Chief Inspector Julie Wheatley

Chief Inspector Julie Wheatley has been a serving police officer with Hertfordshire for 28 years, she is currently the Divisional Commander for North Herts Community Safety Partnership. She had a vast experience of working within Safeguarding, Community Safety and Managing Offenders. Julie has previously managed serious and complex investigations as a detective that have been very much in the public sphere. Julie has been the strategic working lead for the force on women’s issues and most recently has championed the effects of the menopause within the work place. She has a BA Honours degree in Humanities and is married to a Detective Superintendent who is also a serving Hertfordshire officer, she has a 21 year old daughter who has severe learning difficulties who requires intense support. Julie was featured in an ITV six part documentary ‘Married to the Job’ which followed four senior female officers and how they manage their working environment and busy personal and family lives. Julie is keen for people to understand the unique and special working relationship she has with her PA Heather McDonald who manages to coordinate her work, personal and social life.
